May 15, 2007 Integro Does Its "Homework"...with Habitat for Humanity, New Orleans Chapter, during RIMS New York Integro Insurance Brokers was well represented at this year's RIMS gathering, but it was the work done in the days preceding the conference that left the biggest mark. Hammers in hand, power tools charged, Integro's RIMS attendees joined New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) in its ongoing mission to aid communities ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. For two full days (April 27-28) prior to the conference opening, volunteers lent a hand with home-building and reconstruction efforts. The work took place in "Musicians' Village" a grouping of homes built for displaced New Orleans-resident musicians in the hard-pressed Upper Ninth Ward. The project was conceived by musicians Harry Connick, Jr. and Ellis Marsalis in conjunction with non-profit Habitat. The weather was hot, the work was formidable, but the motivation was strong and spirits were high. For more information on Habitat for Humanity's efforts in New Orleans, visit: www.habitat-nola.org.
